Founded by Brandi Henderson in 2011, The Pantry is…well in their words is “A place to cook. And eat. And learn.” If you haven’t been to The Pantry, please check out their calendar of cooking classes and dinners and sign up today. It is truly hard to resist a place that is willing to do (their words again) “basically anything we can think of to get their neighbors around the table, breaking bread and building community.” Good people. Good food. Good times. What more is there? Pass the butter please.

We call Vashon Island home, and it is with great pride that we consider the Country Store & Farm an exclusive Vashon retailer of Seattle Canning Co. With over 50 years of island history and community involvement, The Country Store & Farm is just a stone's throw out of town. Visit during blueberry season and enjoy one of the Puget Sounds only remaining u-pick patches. Word has it that the strawberry fields are maturing and may be open to the public next season as well. It's true; Strawberry fields are forever.
GooD FOOD. GOOD PEOPLE. GOOD TIMES.
Go slow. Stay small.
This mantra may seem counter-intuitive for most startups. However, for Vashon Island resident and Australian transplant Sarah Collins and partner Chad Anderson, it is the true measure of success and the foundation of their Vashon-based specialty food label; Seattle Canning Company.
Established only a year and a half ago selling solely on Vashon Island, Seattle Canning Co. has grown this year with participation in over 6 Seattle farmers markets and a three iconic wholesale accounts. Braving a crowded marketplace and battling for shelf space, Sarah and Chad are firm believers that good people want good food and their small batch, owner operated, hand-made product and company philosophy is aligned to fulfill that desire.
As is true for a nation, so it is for this couple...
YES WE CAN!
PROCESS. PRODUCT. PEOPLE. PLACE.
Seattle Canning Co. is a small batch, farm to jar processor and purveyor of hand-made specialty foods including ethnic inspired sauces, chutneys, rubs, relishes and pickled fresh produce.
Using organic, local & regionally grown produce from independent farmers whenever possible, Seattle Canning Co. preserve the natural goodness that defines the Pacific Northwest. Much like a micro-brewery, Seattle Canning Co. enjoys hand-crafting in small batches to create their Signature line and experimenting with new recipes and limited produce to create their Limited collection. Farm to jar freshness finds a home in both.
Foodies will enjoy the heirloom recipes behind the signature line including Sonny’s Spicy Eggplant Kasundi, Uncle Winston’s Tomato Relish, pacific Coast Cranberry Chutney, and Vashon Island Pickles. Kids and parents will relish in the versatility of these lovely hand crafted flavors. Limited batches of seasonal favorites such as Cherry Cherry Chutney, Plum-a-licious Plum Chutney, Vashon Island Spicy Dill Pickles and our soon to be famous Good-On-Evrything Thai Peanut Sauce are coming soon..
A shared love for good food, good drink and good people inspired Australian transplant and food enthusiast Sarah Collins and her partner, Vashon local/Green Bay native, Chad Anderson to start Seattle Canning Co. The goal—Live simple. Be happy. Sarah and Chad believe that if they can, we all can.
You will be able to order products online soon. In the meanwhile stop by one of our retail partners or the U-District, Ballard, or West Seattle farmers markets. Hope to meet you soon.
